At Diverse Digital, training and events are about access, opportunity and fairness.

We are committed to improving digital literacy and technology access for Deaf, disabled and marginalised communities who have historically been excluded from the tech sector — not because of lack of ability, but because of lack of access.

Our workshops are designed to open doors, build confidence and create pathways into digital and technology spaces that too often feel closed.

Lived Experience

Deaf Access and British Sign Language

All training and events are shaped and delivered by Dionne Simpson, founder of Diverse Digital and she brings:

lived experience as a disabled person
lived experience as someone from the Global Majority
over 20 years of professional experience working alongside Deaf and disabled people

This combination means our training is not theoretical. It is grounded in real lives, real barriers and real opportunities.

Deaf Access and British Sign Language

Deaf communities are often excluded from the tech sector because communication accessibility is still not embedded in everyday practice when:

information is only available in written English
training is delivered verbally
support services are not accessible in British Sign Language (BSL)

Deaf people are effectively shut out.

This exclusion happens early — in education, training and careers advice — and continues into employment and professional development.

Deaf and disabled people are not just technology users, they are:

They should have the choice to pursue careers in technology — just like anyone else. Our training challenges the idea that tech is only for a narrow group and works to create new entry points into digital and technology learning.

Why This Matters

Technology shapes how we work, learn, communicate and access services. Yet many people are still locked out of the digital and tech sector.

Deaf and disabled people are among the most underemployed groups in the UK, despite evidence showing that disabled employees often demonstrate high loyalty and strong retention when workplaces are inclusive and accessible. At the same time, the tech sector continues to report skills shortages.

This is not a coincidence — it is a gap created by inaccessible education pathways, communication barriers and systemic exclusion.
